　秦野市は、昭和30年（1955年）1月1日に、秦野町、南秦野町、東秦野村、北秦野村の二町二村が合併して誕生しました。その後、大根村の一部が、さらに昭和38年（1963年）には西秦野町が加わり、現在の市域が形成されました。おかげさまで本年1月1日には、市制施行60年の節目を迎えることができました。　わがまち秦野には、遥か昔から先人達が大切に守り育ててきた「水とみどり」があります。また一方では、小田急線4駅や東名高速道路のインターチェンジを有し、都心への優れたアクセスが魅力の住環境を形成しています。さらには、平成32年度（2020年度）に開通予定の新東名高速道路やそれに接続する秦野インターチェンジ、秦野サービスエリア内へのスマートインターチェンジの設置は、まさに当市が「神奈川の陸の玄関口」として存在感を示す絶好の機会であると考えております。　現在、わが国では、人口減少・少子高齢化が急速に進んでいます。このような中にあっても、私たちは夢や希望を次世代につなげるために果敢に立ち向かわなければなりません。　そのためにも、“秦野らしさ”を生かし、誰もが、住み続けたい、住んでみたいと感じていただけるための、まちづくりにまい進してまいりますので、御協力をよろしくお願い申し上げます。Hadano City was formed on January 1, 1955 as a result of the merger of two towns and two villages: HadanoTown, Minami-hadano Town, Higashi-hadano Village, and Kita-hadano Village. After this, a part of OhneVillage joined this merger, and following this, Nishi-hadano Town also joined in 1963 to form the presentday Hadano City municipal area. To express its gratitude to everyone, Hadano City celebrated the 60thanniversary of its achievement of gaining city status on January 1, 2015.Our city, Hadano, has “water and nature,” which our ancestors have long been carefully protecting andnurturing. On the other hand, the City also has four Odakyu Line stations and interchanges with the TomeiExpressway, forming an attractive living environment which offers excellent access to the center of Tokyo.Furthermore, we have undertaken developments such as the Shin-Tomei Expressway, which is to be openedin fiscal year 2020, and a Smart Interchange, which will be established within the Hadano Service Area as agolden opportunity for the further development of this City, and we intend to play the role of “the gatewayinto Kanagawa Prefecture.”Currently, an unprecedented level of population decline, as well as a low birth rate and an aging population,are occurring in Japan. Amidst such a situation, we must still boldly confront various issues in order to passour dreams and hopes on to future generations.For us to achieve this goal, we will strive to develop a city in which everyone develops the feeling that theywant to continue living with the positive lifestyle of the city or to move in to the city, by taking advantage ofthe characteristics of Hadano.
